Kimre™ Fiber Bed Candle Filters effectively trap, collect, and remove liquids and soluble particulate matter suspended in a gas stream. These cylindrical elements feature a "bed" composed of fine fibers of media, available in various grades and densities, packed between two cylindrical screens. As mist-laden gas passes through the filter wall, cleaned gas exits from the opposite side. Depending on the flow direction, gas can move from the inside to the outside (forward flow or sitting filter) or from the outside to the inside (reverse flow or hanging filter).

As particles attempt to pass through the candle filter, they are captured by the fibers. Larger particles are collected through inertial methods, while the high efficiency of the fiber bed filter is enhanced by Brownian motion, where gas molecules collide with sub-micron particles. This collection mechanism is known as Brownian diffusion. Liquid particles or dissolved solids coalesce into drops on the filter's fiber surface and drain by gravity.
