CHLOR-ALKALI

Chlorine provides useful chemicals for more than 50% of worldwide chemical productions. Chlorine is used for PVC plastic productions. Other uses are: high purity silicon production, as its largest use. Other uses are: high purity silicon production electronics, electrical devices, automotive uses, as well as pharmaceutical and medical devices.

Chlorine production is via caustic soda, membrane, diaghram and mercury cell process. All these processes require pollution abatement equipment applied during some production steps or waste stream exhausts.

Process Streams

In the Chlorine production train, there is a need to clean up the off-gases from the electrolytic decompostion of the brine. Kimre can provide Wet and Dry Chlorine Mist Eliminators as well as providing mist eliminators for the Hydrogen gas stream. Both Fiber Bed Filters, for high efficiency sub-micron mist removal, and B-GON® Mist Eliminators, for control of droplets down to 2 microns, are available for this servcie.

Gas/Exhaust Cleaning

Kimre can also provide equipment for exhaust gas cleaning, including Mercury capture and control, fume control, vent gas scrubbers, and scrubber mist eliminators. Application of our process knowledge and B-GON® Mist Eliminator, KON-TANE® Scrubber and Tower Packing and Fiber Bed Filters provides highly effective emission control for Chlorine plants.

HCl Emissions

Many systems using or transporting Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) have issues with fine HCl droplet emissions. These droplets are often in the 1 to 2 micron size range, and can result in a corrosive fog when released to the air. Kimre B-GON® Mist Eliminators and Fiber Bed Filters can provide effective, economical control of these fine mists, eliminating emissions and reducing damage to buildings and equipment.
